Semi-Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent

So a LOT has changed since my last entry here on this blog but that's another entry.
Here is a great way to save money, and with this economy you can use all the help you can get.
Super Simple Recipe.
Works in regular and HE washers.

Semi-Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent -  I know I need a Better Name  ﴾͡๏̯͡๏)

This is a recipe for 1 gallon and we have found it works very well with the hard water we get here in Alabama.

1/3 cup borax (wal mart has it - about $3.00 - $3.50)
1/3 cup Washing soda [( NOT baking soda)] again find it at wal mart  for about $3.50 for a big box
2 TBSP of Dawn dishwashing soap.

That's it for the main ingredients.
Now if you want fragrance and/or fresh scents you can add essential oils or in our case we use Gain.

We add about 1/2 cup per gallon of Liquid Gain to the detergent mix.

Now you have some powder and liquid in the bottom of a jug.
ADD HOT, HOT, HOT water about half the jug- not boiling but close.
And SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE.      ¯\(°_o)/¯
When you're done mixing finish filling with water.

This will mix and most if not all the powder will be absorbed in the mixture.
If the mixture separates over time just shake it again before using.

We use about 1/2 a cup per load and it gets everything clean and fresh.
We make up 5 gallons at a time at about $1.35 / gallon.
If we were to buy a gallon of Gain it would be about $18.00, so we save $16.65 per gallon we make.
